Both had played on the Wednesday Night Sessions so Andy, Sarah and I went along to support.

LCR (Loughborough Campus Radio) are starting their RSL on the 28th and ramair are supplying the transmission equipment. Rich Holleworth and I take a trip down south to spend a few hours on a roof getting 95.1FM across Loughborough sounding loud and clear.

Another freshers week and the yearly ramair pubcrawl, ending at the FND. Quite low turnout (we had to merge the 4 teams into 2) due to the union accidentally missing it off the welcome week timetable! Had a fantastic night though.. the people we had on our team were brilliant.

We head up to the moors to celebrate Thomas getting married by indulging in a bit of motorsport.

A surprise visit from Einar, brilliant presents and one of the best nights out I've had in ages makes this birthday the best ever!

The first ever UBU beach party on the last day of term with over 40 tonnes of sand. Apart from a few power supply problems ramair pulls off another fantastic outside broadcast.

Jim is graduating soon and leaving Bradford for good. All you can eat Chinese it is, then...

We get all glammed up to celebrate Mark getting Full Colours for dedication to Ramair. Gaudis was a bit busy so with the courtyard open until 1 we head there for more drink!

Foundry, as part of their 10 gigabit ethernet promo, weren't giving out t-shirts at MaNAP 42 yesterday - all they had left in the marketing box were these action men!

The Bar-B-Keg gets a clean and we cook some meat! Hmmm... chicken.

As part of the big station cleanup, Rich and I finally get round to tidying the engineering room - managed to get rid of 2 shopping trolleys worth of rubbish, most of it old wire and computer gear. Had a good laugh at the new speakers installed outside the union.. don't they know it rains a lot in Bradford??!

Woke up with the biggest sod of a hangover. A great day of talks with lots of drunken antics in the evening. People ended up in the fountain and I eventually made it to bed around 5am.

First night of the spring conference, this year hosted by LCR in Loughborough. RaW win the pub quiz (to shouts of FIX) - the sports round had us scuppered! Then we get rather drunk.

Lots of fooooooood. Then we head down to Revolution.

We dress up as schoolkids and go on the rampage down at the FND to celebrate Liz turning 23! If you know me/Liz and want the password then leave me a message.

Early morning wakeup, coffee, miles of gaffer tape and another outside broadcast for RamAir down in the basement is complete!

We invade Kate's house and surprise her with a birthday cake in the shape of a K. Plenty of drink - I ended up falling asleep and getting antiqued (covered in flour) by Jim.

We celebrate Kate turning 21 in style.. down at the local all-you-can-eat Chinese restaurant!

It snowed!

Not long to Christmas, so I treated myself to a new toy.. a fully loaded Sun Netra T1/105 (1GB RAM, 440MHz Ultrasparc IIi, 18GB SCSI disk). It'll end up in Exa's rack in Telecity at some point but for now hanging off my ADSL at home will have to do.

I've not seen them for about 3 years - funnily enough the last time was at Jo's (Steve's sisters) wedding!

It's been around 12 months since we've seen him! A curry and then we hit the pub.

Jim, Phil, Alex, Clare and I went up to Durham for the student radio association awards nominations. The Gush didn't get nominated but we had a good time anyway thanks to hideous amounts of drink.

The blue team cause mayhem again with a brand new group of 'freshers!

RamAir sets up stall down at the Freshers fair.. pretty much a complete studio setup (with computer playout as well!)

Working late 2 nights in a row to get the hub of the station wired. Tons of multicore to terminate! From this frame the entire station can be re-wired in the future simply by altering the signal patching.

Finally.. we've got the transmission and computer equipment racks in their final location in engineering. Now the task of racking the kit and terminating the multicores (and more importantly making the station work) can begin.

An Ebm/Goth/Industrial night in Escape. Not been down for a few months - they've got a frickin' laser beam now!

The new patch panels are in and everything works perfectly. And that nasty ground hum from the playout computer has gone. Sorted!

We start work on studio A's patch panel.

Long overdue.. lots of wire and mess! With the external feeds re-routed we get to work on moving the transmission rack from the broadcast studio into its own room.

A really good night out. Then we got home and discovered that Ralph's car had been done over. At least they got a free lift all the way back to Colchester courtesy of their breakdown service.

I haven't seen them in over a year. First thing we do.. go for a curry (this is Bradford, after all!).

Knackered... that's the only word I can use to describe how the end of Infest felt like! Again, some fantastic acts. Hypnoskull tore the place apart with some hard dirty noise and the headliners VNV Nation playing a brilliant set topped the night off perfectly.

An early start for us TSA bods.. 9:30am. Fortunately Tim and Pete managed to iron out the power problems and the acts were fantastic (especially the absolutely mental Needle Sharing).

10 minutes before the first group was due to come on we had been without one phase of lampy power for a few hours. During rigging a dimmer rack had gone boom and so had our DMX demux! A few bodges and some blagged equipment later, we had lighting back up and the first night went without too many hitches. Phew.

This is my 4th year working Infest and nothing has changed.. things still need fixing at the last minute!

Before we can move the transmission rack into the engineering room we have to disconnect and re-route all the external feeds. Rich gets his drill out and succeeds in making a rather large hole in the wall.

Stripping out old kit from the rack and constructing the new station output processing chain using a Behringer Multicom Pro-XL as final peak limiter.

For the un-educated a LART is a Luser Attitude Readjustment Tool. An essential item in any sysadmin toolkit. This one is metal too!

We were dripping with sweat in Revolution! Then we went to see Cuz and Kate on the amphitheatre.

A nice chilled evening sat out out in the sun.

Got two fantastic birthday presents - some bongo's and a rare copy of a record I have been after for years! Top that off with a nice curry and the day turned out well after all!

After a fairly crappy day at work (on my birthday.. of all days,) a few drinks down the local.

Following a game of bowling and a bit of nosh at the Goose we head off to the Market Tavern before Rios. Perhaps going home to change first wasn't a great idea.. as the first pint I had got spilled all over me by a collapsing glass tower!

Finally.. the new systems department is ready! Paul, Andy, Chris and myself spend the day moving desks.

Cocktails! And lots of nice totty.. not bad for a saturday night out in Bradford.

We pay Dinny a visit and munch a ton of pizza.

Finish work early and what is my reward? A massive fire in the warehouse next to my block of flats! Perfect.

Dinny lives on a hill.. a very large hill. So we took the bus. Then we drank.

Getting my BSc in Computer Science from the University of Bradford. Brian Blessed was receiving his honorary doctorate at my award ceremony as well!

Bar-B-Keg is back.. and it's pissed at us! Perhaps we ought to clean it sometime. 3 foot flames meant the sausages were done in record time. Then up to Phils room to watch him rule at Battlefield 1942.

Cool.. Nick has got a Sony Aibo robo-dog! Just don't wear red trousers otherwise, as Clare found out, it will try and hump your leg.

We get the Bar-B-Keg out as it's perfect weather for a BBQ.

Says it all, really. Some nice arse about tonight though :)

BT hire out the entire of Alton Towers for the weekend as a special treat to everyone who has done 30 years or more service. I guess my Dad qualifies.. he's been there almost 35 years! A free day out (with spending money included) was nice although I foolishly got sunburnt.

Paintball was fun.. getting bitten by thousands of insects wasn't.

It took some work but Andy and I managed to move the CD rack into studio B, having to cut it down to size first. Easier said than done.
